This is a fascinating story of Lawrence Anthony, the elephant whisperer. He lived on the Thula Thula ranch in South Africa, which quite by accident, became the last refuge for rogue elephants. Lawrence worked with the troubled elephants in their natural environment. There were trying times as their lives became intertwined.
In his life, Lawrence was best known for rushing in to save the animals in the Baghdad Zoo during the Iraqi war. (See his book: Babylon’s Ark) The story of the elephant’s reaction to his death, went viral. The two herds of elephants, who had not visited in over two years, traveled over 12 hours to reach his house shortly after his death. They stayed for two days before returning to the bush.
