The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo

This is a children’s book for all ages. (The library would tell you grades 2-6) My mommy friends loved the book so much, they passed around. When they ran out of other moms to share it with, they passed it along to their non-mom friends. That says everything about the power of this book.

If you don’t recognize the author’s name (I didn’t) – she is the author of Because of Win Dixie.

Edward Tulane was a china rabbit who was very pleased with himself, and for good reason: he was owned by a girl named Abilene, who adored him completely. And then, one day, he was lost… Kate DiCamillo takes us on an extraordinary journey, from the depths of the ocean to the net of a fisherman, from the bedside of an ailing child to the bustling streets of Memphis. Along the way, we are shown a miracle–that even a heart of the most breakable kind can learn to love, to lose, and to love again.
